My sister and I were having a conversation a few weeks back about our blogs. She mentioned she had told our aunt and grandmother about her new blog...and then the blog I've had for over a year. They said they had no idea.
Originally this blog was a diary for me. Period. Then I started to branch out and explore the infertility community, desperately looking for support from people like me, like us. Then I slowly started to let a few of our close friends in on it. It was a blessing. Our friends knew what we were going through without having to ask us and without us having to repeat ourselves time and time again.
My sister said to me "I told them (my aunt and grandma) that if people read your blog they'd not have a true picture of who you are, likewise, those of us in your real life probably have no idea how much infertility affects you; until we read your blog".....or something along those lines.
Those words have echoed in my head since then. How true. This little tiny corner of the blogging world is the ONLY place I gripe and grieve on a consistent basis. I filter what I say out loud (for the most part) when it comes to our fertility issues and despite the fact I rarely have an in depth conversation about it; it's always with me. Infertility has become my shadow. It never leaves my side. It doesn't define me, but it is a big part of who I am.
So, in an effort to show that I'm not all about infertility, I thought I'd introduce my blogging friends to the real me.
1. It's baseball season. Yay!!! I love baseball. A lot. I'll watch almost any game. I try to make to atleast one pro game a year. My husband is a life long Yankees fan (much to the dismay of his Mets fan father). I think I like baseball so much because we enjoy it together.
2. Cookies. My newest obsession. As if you couldn't tell. I'm starting to dream cookies and designs I want to conquer.
3. I read insanely fast. Unfortunately this means I usually don't retain whatever it is I've read; but atleast I enjoy the story while I'm reading it! I wish I made more time to read, but I'm also a TV aholic.
4. I love live concerts. I used to attend a lot more live shows than I do now. Mostly because drunk people are very very obnoxious and they're usually at concerts.
5. I'm openly more compassionate towards dogs than humans. Humans can change out they act...their actions impact their lives. Dogs are helpless.
Okay.....that's enough for now. Just wanted to show that there's more to me than an infertility diagnosis!
