Aside from baking cookies, it was an exciting week in our household. I finally caved and let my husband get a Harley. He's been wanting one for about 3 years; ever since he got his motorcycle license from the police department.
Last weekend, while he was at the beach, he visited the OBX Harley store and was looking at a few used bikes. He came home empty handed.
But this past Tuesday he took me to our local Harley store so I could see what bikes were out there. Mostly, so I could picture a bike when he was whining talking about getting one. We looked at a few, had the guy price some out for us, and I asked alot of questions.
And I had a revelation on Tuesday night after we got home. The one question I couldn't answer was
"Why not?"
Sure, financially it wouldn't help us; but it wouldn't hurt us either. My husband offered to work two extra off duty jobs to pay for it and I couldn't really argue.
Now's the perfect time. After all, we don't have kids.
And so on Wednesday we bought a Harley. Here's my husband getting ready to drive away from the store.
And here I am trying it out. Unfortunately the boots are the only reason my feet touch the ground which sadly means I can't drive it. We're waiting on our saddle bags and a bigger sissy bar to come in to the shop and then it'll be really ready for me to ride. I do need somewhere to put my purse!
I went on my first ride around the neighborhood today and oh my! It's harder than it looks to be a passenger. It involves total trust in the driver and leaving your nervousness in the driveway.
Now all I need is my pink helmet! That's the goal of this week!

COOL :) Hubby has a Harley, too, and I got my pink helmet here: http://www.bikersden.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=770 The best advice that hubby ever gave me as far as being a passenger is about turns (the most scary things for me)... he said for me to look over his shoulder in whatever direction he was turning. I guess I was subconsiously leaning to the other side which made it harder for him to turn/control, and I thought that if I leaned toward the turning side, I would totally fall off, but looking over that shoulder of his totally works! Have FUN!!! B-)
