Happy ICLW!

I guess you could call this my first official ICLW, although I did JUST submit my blog, so it's probably too late for me to make the blog list, but oh well.  Next month I'll make sure to get on the list...I figure even if I don't get many comments, I'll still make a bunch and find some new blogs to follow.

On the off chance that I do get some new people stopping by, here's a brief version of our TTC story.

DH and I married in Dec. 2006.  Our first year of marriage was spent by me starting a new job (my first adult job), buying a house and we ended it by celebrating our first anniversary in Disney World.  Although we weren't actively trying, we used no BC what-so-ever.  What a wasted year.  So Jan. 2008 rolls around and we kick the TTC into high gear.  3 months later...BFP!! Woohoo...that was sooo easy!  Then, 3 days later...AF arrives.  What a crappy way to learn about chemical pregnancies.   We call in Jan. 2009 to set up an appointment with the RE.  Because we're new patients, we have to wait 3 months.  During 3 month wait, DH sees urologist and has several SA's done.  Results??  Poor morphology, low count, poor motility.   RE thinks our issue is b/c of DH's issues, but schedules an HSG, post coidal test and blood work.  All tests come back normal.  First IUI done in June 2009, followed by one in July, Aug. and Sept.  We took a mental health/holiday break from Oct.-Dec. 2009 and mentally geared up for IVF in Jan. 2010.  First round of IVF was a BFN which came in March.  We tried a FET in July which resulted in a BFN.  And now??  Now we're 'taking another break'!?

Of course, if you're a fellow infertile, you know that you never really take a break.  Because it becomes engrained in your brain...to chart your cycle and try when you're ovulating and put a butt under your pillow after you've done the deed.  (hahahahahah just reread what I wrote and I'm totally leaving it...you know what I meant.)

I see adoption in our future...but that's atleast a year down the road.  After all, we do need to pay down our debt.  But along the way...I'm looking forward to making new friends!

  4. Happy ICLW!!

I hate how as IF we can't really take a break, I have taken several breaks along the way and I always end up looking for signs in the 2 weeks after ovulation.

    Good luck!!!

  5. I'm sorry for all that you've been through...I wish that I could say that it gets easier, but I don't think it ever does. Wishing you luck that you are able to reach the light at the end of your tunnel...whatever that might be!

    Hugs!

  6. Happy ICLW!

My husband has a very similar diagnosis (one that's only gotten worse over the past few years). We had it "easy" in the sense that we had always planned to have children through both adoption and birth so as soon as the second test came back we went ahead and got straight on the adoption train and now have two (utterly adorable, totally awesome) little boys. Not to say adoption is the easiest thing ever and everyone should do it, just saying it worked for us (and if that ends up being how you choose to build your family, I hope it works for you too :) ). And I understand that "never really on a break" thing. It's so true! I mean, we've virtually given up all hope of ever conceiving. DH's sperm are awful, several signs point to fertility issues with me as well, and yet... I always have to wonder, will we end up being one of those cliche couples who spontaneously conceive after adopting? And you can't help but have your cycle in mind and think "well, it's not likely, but it is possible that these twinges I feel...." Yeah, IF really messed with your brain!

  8. Happy ICLW! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have since I discovered it (and some wonderful new blogs and blogger friends!) a few months ago. Hope you are enjoying your break. I know what you mean though, a break is never really a total break unless you decided to go on the pill or something similar, you would always hold that teeny, tiny little bit of hope that maybe the time? So sorry to hear about you BFN's - it's so hard :-( I'm 2 day away from my BT for IVF#3 and not feeling very hopeful. Good luck for the future!

  12. Stopping by from ICLW - and welcome to the list :) The IF blogosphere rocks. We too are thinking about starting the adoption process hopefully in the next year or so - I can't wait to read more about your journey and wishing you lots of luck :)

  13. It's good to stop and take a breather every once in a while. I know what youmean about it never really being a break, though. Even when you aren't trying to conceive, you always have in the back of your mind that a miracle could happen and you could suddenly conceive naturally. I wishyou a healthy break and smooth sailing with the adoption process, if that's the way you decide to go.

  14. Visiting from ICLW, couldn't leave the people towards the end of the list out!

I haven't shared your experiences (except for the butt under the pillow bit) so I only know what I have read. Thank you for sharing because then people, like me, who don't have the experience can be more understanding and sensitive to friends.

  16. Happy ICLW! I read back in your blog a bit, and I like your writing style. Oh, and DH and I used to call it a Hail Mary on break months - pillow under the butt and all.

I hope you get your miracle. ((Hugs))

  17. It is so true! You NEVER take a break even if you're on a break. We are in between our first failed IVF and our first (hopefully successful FET) and I made sure to get all romantic like right around day 14. Coincidence? Not. ;)

    Happy ICLW!

  18. Breaks can definitely be a good thing, though everyone is right - there really is no break because every time you have sex, you think maybe, just maybe this is the time. My advice is to throw yourself into something you love right now.

    I love Elaine's comment!
