We hit another official milestone in our journey to parenthood. A week ago, I started my last natural period. That might be too much information for some of you, but it is important to realize what that means to us. It means we have been trying to have a baby for exactly two years. It means the next period I get will be after fertility drugs have started. It means the element of surprise is definitely not an option. More than the disappointment at yet another month of not conceiving (trust me, by about the 6 month of TTC, I expected them), it signifies HOPE. We are starting to schedule more exact dates and the IVF process is finally turning from a dream into a reality.
I called my doctor (Fertility Specialist) when I got my period and he said "Well, here we go". Hah! Little does he know we feel like we've been going since that very first month. We've just been going a different way than everyone else. Our next step is me having to do another ovulation kit. Not to be too disgusting, but I wonder exactly how many test strips I've peed on! I'm about done with them! Then, a week after ovulation I will start on a drug called Lupron. It's injected through the belly, kind of like an insulin shot. I am feeling very blessed that needles don't bother me!
I have never been more anxious for two months to go by than I am right now. In-Vitro will be done at the end of February and hopefully by the middle of March, we'll know if it has worked or not. Fingers crossed! We are so exhausted of thinking about such large and overwhelming issues. We are so ready to discuss baby names, nursery colors, and not drug cycles or appointment times.
We continue to appreciate our friends and family so much. Every single one of you has played such an important role in lives. Kristan & Travis, Betsey & Patrick, and Renee' & Steven...thank you for allowing us to share in your journey to parenthood. We adore both Molly's and can't wait to meet Carson. Courtney, words can't express how much I am grateful to have you back in my life. And to my family. Thank you for letting us cry and share our emotions with you. And to all of you...a big THANK YOU for putting up with our sarcastic comments! Sarcasm helps us cope!
Here's to another milestone!
